Tequila Blanco

What is Tequila Blanco?

Tequila Blanco, also known as silver tequila, is a type of tequila that is unaged and straight out of the distillation process. It is characterized by its clear and transparent appearance, and a strong, sharp flavor. Tequila Blanco is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave and is produced in the Jalisco region of Mexico - the only region where tequila can be legally produced.

Tequila Blanco is typically more intense and bold in flavor compared to aged tequilas because it is not diluted or softened by the oak barrels used during the aging process. It is commonly enjoyed as a shot, but can also be used in numerous cocktails such as margaritas or palomas. When selecting a tequila Blanco, it's important to look for brands that use only 100% Blue Weber Agave because some brands may use up to 49% of other sugars to create a cheaper product. This can result in a lower quality tequila with a harsher taste. Drink responsibly and enjoy this classic Mexican spirit in moderation.

What distinguishes Tequila Blanco from other varieties?

Tequila Blanco is an unaged tequila that is bottled directly after distillation. In contrast, Reposado and Anejo tequila goes through an aging process in oak barrels. Blanco has a clear and mild taste, characteristic of pure agave flavor. In comparison, Reposado tequila has a golden color and a velvety taste that comes from its aging in oak barrels. The aging process for Anejo tequila is even longer than Reposado, resulting in a darker color and even more intense flavor. Blanco tequila is excellent for mixing in cocktails, while Reposado and Anejo are often enjoyed neat.

How does Tequila Blanco taste?

Tequila Blanco has a clear, mild and refreshing taste and aroma characteristic of blue agave. The flavors can vary from salty, citrusy, peppery to fruity. It is known for its vibrant, clean and fresh flavors and is often used in margaritas and other tequila-based cocktails.
